Coffee at Church

All good things take time.

Ideation for this project began in 2020 — in the middle of the pandemic. It all began when a change occurred at a local church in Surfside, Miami. The owners decided to begin remodeling the space to create something inviting to all their visitors, and what better idea than to create a Coffee Shop for everyone to enjoy? After every service, or before, anyone can enjoy of a nice beverage/refreshment and enjoy the rest of their day. The vision was to add a space for the congregants to have a place to hang out. The new coffee shop used to be a storage closet with no other purpose than just a space to house miscellaneous things. This space had enclosed windows, and we decided to remove the cinder blocks that were blocking the windows, to help bring in more light and open the space up to create this modern look and feel.

We used the space to add indoor and outdoor seating for visitors, a nice bar table for the baristas, and additional decor pieces like pendants, tables, etc.

The building structure has been in Surfside for many years and renovations were in full swing when they reached out for the design process. The owner desired to make the space look more modern. And so, both the interior and exterior were worked on being renovated.

Aside from the coffee shop, we decided to revamp the exterior by working on modernizing the landscape, the stoned pathways for visitors to use when coming into the church building, and new signage for the outside.

And additionally, we also renovated some other spaces in the church like the lobby area to continue that modern approach to the space.

Check out the pictures below for a closer look and what it used to look like BEFORE!
